The excitement of a beach cat yet the power of an ocean racer multihull
The design and creation of the Extreme 40 by the Olympic Tornado Catamaran champions Yves Loday and TornadoSport brought together the excitement of a beach cat ride and combined it with the power and speed of a big cat.

High tech production
The master shape has been produced by milling at one of the best aeronautic and race car facilities in France. The moulds are then produced by Heol composites, who are one of the leading producers of high tech boat construction.

Autoclave
Aircraft and Formula 1 production technology
The boat is produced in an autoclave from carbon fibre and Nomex core. This technology is normally reserved for aircraft construction or F1 car racing with limited use in yacht mast construction. Basically the autoclave is a pressurised oven that allows a much greater vacuum on the laminate, which is then baked at 120 Degrees Celsius. This produces the ultimate high strength light weight structure. The Extreme 40 is the largest boat ever built in autoclave and will set the new standard in mid size multihull construction.

Built for Action and Spectacle...   History of the Class   Buy an eXtreme 40 ....
The Extreme 40 was created with two things in mind, action and adrenline! The gap was seen in the Grand Prix sailing market for a fast, inshore catamaran, which would be not only exciting to watch but cost effective to run.

The history of the Extreme 40 may be short, but full of spectacle. Shortly after the first built 40ft carbon fibre catamaran hit the water in 2005, Extreme 40’s debuted in the international racing scene during several stop overs at the 2005/2006 Volvo Ocean Race, in an in-port racing format, called the Grand Prix Racing Series.

TornadoSport, creators of the Class, have been busier than ever this year, with their build numbers rising into double figures. More orders were placed before the exciting iShares circuit started due to the high interest from sailors and their respective sponsors.
